“Flute Bhaskaran’s CD Released” “Winds of Peace” a unique flute audio CD, performed by Sri K.Bhaskaran, leading flute artiste was released on 10th Dec 2001 at a function in ESSEN Musicals premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri S.Rajam, leading musician dwelled on the
aspect of creativity being central to our Karnatic Classical music, and spoke
very highly of the creative music rendered in the CD. Sri V.Ramamurthi, IAS,
spoke of the uniqueness of the CD in the way that there has been two different
flutes by the same artiste, with a blend of the north Indian and south Indian
touches, an effort that requires an artiste to have top mastery and ‘vidwat’.
The result, he said, has been a total effect of peace, serenity and tranquility
in a continuum of ‘audio bliss’ which no rasika should miss.
Sri Venkat Rolla, who heads Music Today
was a special guest at the occasion, and he was introduced as the person who has
made Music today into the leading brand
that it is today, by his unique approach to the market. He spoke on the
importance of the listeners to look at not just a ‘big brand’ of the artiste
in buying and listening to the music but also give a due share to the new
artistes, who are sweeping the art scene by their creativity.
There was a performance by K Bhaskaran on the flute, accompanied by Nagai
Sriram on the violin and Sri K. R. Ganesh on the mridangam, at the end of the
function. The ragas played were Hamsadvani, Gowrimanohari and Pantuvarali, with a few
popular bhajans and tillanas at the end. The playing was marked by sublime
melody, and the rhythmic strokes of Ganesh provided a solid framework for the
melodic and rhythmic creativity of Bhaskaran to flourish to a peak.
The Pantuvarali raga and the swaraprastharas brought out the uniqueness
of the artiste in the handling of the flute, an instrument where the playing of
half notes (like the rishaba and dhaivata of Pantuvarali) has probably
been mastered only by one or two artistes in the south Indian music field.
This was also corroborated by the expert views of the guests of the
occasion, one of whom remarked that ‘Bhaskaran was a few inches above the
other artistes in his yearning for improvement and perfection on the
instrument’. On the whole a
very musical evening was dished out at ESSEN musicals that day. The audio CD, ‘Winds of Peace’ is published by Bilva Music, the media division of Bilvac Technomanagement Pvt. Ltd. which has been newly setup to cater for managing technology for various end users, including the entertainment sector. |
