Experience:
Consultant in Software/IT ( from Dec 1999 till date) Provided consultancy services to various industrial groups for bootstrapping their software business – the companies included software, non-software and dot.com businesses.

Some significant assignments :

  • Consulted for three companies to get the STPI registration, guiding the promoters on pros and cons and the statutory and procedural aspects.
  • Set up the business for a diversified business group, (of approx 300 Cr turnover) to enter into software development and exports. Set up their development center from ground-up, to a 6000 sq-foot facility with net-worked center and high end machines, as well as recruiting 30 development professionals. Set up the WAP-competency group and Ecom competence groups. Obtained the first customers in Europe for this company, and executed the first off-shore projects. Negotiated repeat orders from the same customer and opened up more than 10 prospects, in Europe. Set up the HR, finance, admin and technical infrastructure support structures. This was done in a period of less then four months. Served as acting CEO for this period before handing over the operations to the main promoter.
  • Provided content advisory services for a dot.com company.
  • Served as an advisor to an investment company, evaluating their investment potential with respect to specific technology companies.

Chief Operating Officer, Bahwan CyberTek Technologies (Pvt) Ltd. Chennai from May 1999 to Nov 1999.

Bahwan CyberTek is a part of the multi-billion $ middle east business group of Bahwans.

Responsible for setting up operations in India. The 4000 sq ft. development facility was set up from ground up to about 25 development personnel within 6 months time, completing software delivery of about 70,000$ from the Chennai center alone. Also worked out the strategy for obtaining off-shore development intent from other companies for over 2 $ million$, projected over next two to three years. As center head was responsible for servicing the US and Muscat subsidiary companies of the group, as well as satisfying external customers and projects obtained through the subsidiaries or by direct marketing efforts. The centre was set up as a 100% EOU, under STPI scheme. (Including the other centres of the software group, the software strength grew upto more than 50 in this period. Also had a major support reponsibility for the software team development for other centres, - Muscat and USA as head of the Indian off-shore hub) Set up E-commerce competence centre, web-publishing group, and Open Systems Applications group at Chennai, and also developed a product for the finance industry. Established the training infrastructure, and set up the initiatives for the Quality Management System. Valuable Skills acquired :
